POSITION DESCRIPTIONUnder the general direction of the L&A Chief Operating Officer, this individual works directly with the L&A Los Alamos Program Manager and team, as well as other L&A senior managers and subject matter experts. Whereas the Los Alamos Program Manager guides and integrates L&A’s support to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) based clients and leads contract execution, the LANL Client Relationship Manager (this position) interacts extensively with the LANL M&O (TRIAD) staff and leadership, identifying and developing opportunities for L&A to further its integrated team subcontractor role to productively impact LANL mission and enterprise success. Additionally, this individual performs billable assignments as a subject matter expert (SME) at LANL and other L&A projects in his/her areas of technical expertise.
The Client Relationship Manager role includes:- Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships across the breadth of the LANL Triad organization,
- Engage with LANL leadership and personnel to 1) broadcast L&A’s integrated teaming subcontractor role and core capabilities, and 2) identify and promote specific support activities through which L&A can meaningfully support LANL mission and goals,
- Continuously communicate and integrate effectively with L&A Los Alamos Program Manager and team to incorporate LANL opportunities and tasks within L&A’s Los Alamos portfolio,
- Support LANL PM and team in necessary contractual, financial and project management/reporting activities,
- Potentially, serve as line manager for deployed L&A employees (generally at LANL),
- Represent L&A effectively – in accordance with L&A Core Values and demonstrating knowledge of L&A core skills and experience and matching those with key challenges and needs in the TRIAD organization,
- Work collaboratively and effectively with the broader L&A Los Alamos and corporate teams, L&A teaming partners, proteges and other industry members within the LANL and NNSA supply chain,
- Support L&A corporate initiatives, as needed, including business development, marketing, management and participation in EFCOG, etc.,
- Perform other duties, as assigned, commensurate with his/her skills to meet broader L&A corporate needs and programs.
While the primary role of this position is to foster strong working relationships with key LANL TRIAD Program and Senior Managers to identify and develop profitable business opportunities for L&A, there will also be a need to support billable work on L&A’s contracts. Over time, the two roles will each comprise approximately 50% of effort; however, initially, the role of relationship development and management will be prioritized. Position billability will be monitored and supported by L&A’s established process.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science, Business or a management discipline at an accredited university and 15+ years of experience with NNSA or DOE, preferably in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Strong management and leadership experience,
- Demonstrated experience and success in business development and project delivery,
- Strong analytical and communication skills,
- Proven ability to work within a collaborative team environment,
- Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with industry and diverse client base and stakeholders,
- Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening,
- Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
The individual must have a strong reputation and established relationships with LANL and the broader DOE/NNSA enterprise, as well as industry players at LANL. Relationships with the community, Pueblos, State and local government organizations, and local industry is an additional benefit.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS- Extensive knowledge of DOE/NNSA programs and projects, particularly at LANL,
- Understanding of LANL missions and organization, including strong relationships with LANL leadership and personnel,
- Ability to provide expert advice and support to L&A’s existing projects and planned pursuits at LANL,
- Ability to work with L&A project managers, performers and clients to lead and execute L&A activities and projects,
- Ability to work effectively with deployed L&A project managers, to align goals, ensure project quality and ensure that project goals to be met or exceeded,
- Adept at problem solving and finding/fixing problems early by working with clients, L&A staff, L&A corporate resources,
- Exceptional public relations capabilities,
- Commitment to L&A values and ability to represent L&A in a highly effective manner in interactions with DOE and other clients,
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks,
- Strong critical thinking and effective communication skills,
- Demonstrated project/program and financial management acumen,
- Understanding of small business concerns – including subcontract administration,
- Passion to contribute to and lead technical projects and activities to enable success of nationally significant mission programs,
- Technical qualifications and expertise suitable to secure billable assignments with L&A clients,
- Understanding of the political environment locally, state, and national level, and its impact to LANL and NNSA missions,
- Ability to interact with the client to ensure clarity of scope and its intended results prior to committing resources.

LOCATION
Los Alamos, New Mexico
This position requires on-site work and minimal domestic travel, estimated up to 30%.
