Longenecker & Associates (L&A) seeks a motivated Principal Engineer - Quality Control to contribute to our mission supporting our work at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions in Aiken, South Carolina.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The main duties include, but are not limited to:

·  Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities,

·  Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results,

· Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs. Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments,

·  Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies,

· Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities,

·  Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities,

·  Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures,

· Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards,

·  Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed,

·  Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks,

· Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

·  Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 8 - 10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas,

·  An Associate's degree and 10 - 12 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent,

·  A high school diploma and 12 - 16 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent,

· Well developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required.

·  Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·  Well developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required,

· Practical field experience in civil (soils, concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, protective coatings) quality control inspections,

·  Ability to develop, review, and implement inspection plans in accordance with technical documents, codes and standards,

· Competency in reviewing and issuing non-conformance reports and coordinating corrective actions,

·  Strong organizational and communication skills to foster a collaborative and safety-oriented work environment,

·   Experience working under NQA-1 quality assurance programs at DOE facilities,

·  Practical QC inspection field experience within the last 12 months,

·  Ability to work in a diverse work environment,

·  Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),

·   Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·   Previous experience on DOE sites and programs,

·   QC Certification as Level II or Level III,

·  Familiarity with AC308 adhesive anchor requirements and ESR reports,

·  Knowledge of concrete fresh properties test methods,

·  Additional certifications such as AWS CWI, ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector, and ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector,

·  Highly knowledgeable in ACI 318 and ACI 349.
