POSITION DESCRIPTION
The main duties include, but are not limited to:
· Provide quality control support to the proJect team and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results,
· Perform construction quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of project and/or maintenance activities,
· Safety is a primary responsibility in each job performed,
· Review design output documents in accordance with approved procedures in order to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages,
· Coordinate with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues and provide status of the inspection/test activities for the work activity,
· Review technical criteria, personnel qualifications and work sequence on work packages including the notation of hold points prior to performance of inspections,
· Perform or direct the quality inspection activities of subordinate QC engineers and other inspection personnel as assigned,
· Assist in resolution of code, specifications and drawing interpretations,
· Perform or supervise the performance of inspection, witness, test, surveillance, and documents the results of the inspection activities,
· Assess the completeness of construction activities and quality verification documentation prior to preparation of quality control releases for turnover,
· Review subcontractor's quality program for compliance to established procedures, attends mobilization meetings and monitors their activities for proper implementation,
· Review suppliers and/or subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance,
· Review, assess and status subcontractors' costs, manpower and materials,
· Approve subcontracts invoices and application for payment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 5-7 years practical experience in construction inspection or related areas,
· An associate's degree and 7-9 years' experience,
· A HS diploma and 10-14 years' experience would be considered equivalent. Certification with continuing technical training is required for performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Practical field experience in civil (soils, concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, protective coatings) quality control inspections,
· Ability to develop, review, and implement inspection plans in accordance with technical documents, codes and standards,
· Competency in reviewing and issuing non-conformance reports and coordinating corrective actions.
· Strong organizational and communication skills to foster a collaborative and safety-oriented work environment,
· Experience working under NQA-1 quality assurance programs at DOE facilities,
· Practical civil/structural field experience within the last 12 months,
· Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
· Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),
· Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Previous experience on DOE sites and programs,
· Current Civil Certification as Level II or Level III,
· Previous Special Inspector Experience (i.e. ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector),
· Familiarity with AC308 adhesive anchor requirements and ESR reports ,
· Knowledge of concrete fresh properties test methods,
· Additional certifications such as AWS CWI, ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector, and ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector,
· Highly knowledgeable in ACI 318 and ACI 349.
