POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Engineer will provide support to
our mission supporting our work at Savannah River Mission Completion. This support will be for the Liquid Waste project through the US Department of Energy's Office of Environmental Management (DOE EM). 
Support is needed across multiple engineering disciplines. We are seeking candidates in Electrical I&C, Chemical, and Mechanical. Selected candidates will work in the facility engineering group supporting all projects (DWPF, SWPF, Tank Farms, and SDU). 

 
The main duties include, but are not limited to:
  1. Provide support to the facility engineering staff as a field / system engineer for facility operations.
  2. Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., Project Engineer, Process Engineer Design Authority, etc.), maintenance, and operations and the DOE customer rep to support system operations.
  3. Design and upgrade facility systems and components.
  4. Review and approve system design changes / modifications.
  5. Oversight of assigned system operations, testing, and maintenance.
  6. Review changes to the plant configuration (i.e., modifications, design change notices) to determine impact to design of the facility, safety basis assumptions or analysis, facility operations, and facility operating procedures.
  7. Ensuring operation of assigned system is within established operating limits and safety analysis.
  8. Implement and work to the authorization basis documents in a nuclear facility.
  9. Perform or assist with hazard analysis of assigned system.
  10. Adhere to and implement client’s Conduct of Engineering (COE) Program.
  11. Perform Engineering Evaluations of equipment and systems for performance, safety, and deficiencies.
  12. Perform calculations and develop engineering calculation reports.
  13. Provide system health reports, design studies, (e.g., root cause analysis, new design development), identify life-cycle cost reductions, and assist with developing integrated technical positions and recommendations for customer approval.
  14. Provide support to resolve any corrective actions or deficiency identified in the corrective action tracking system related to engineering assignments.
  15. Develop design details, design or analysis calculations, specifications, safety documentation, etc. that incorporate the applicable design and national code requirements, including nuclear safety requirements, as applicable.
  16. Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Design Authority, etc.), maintenance, and operations and the customer to support system operations.
 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Engineering. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-10 years of Engineering experience. Acceptable fields include: Chemical, Electrical, and Mechanical. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance with Weapons Data access.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

Desired Qualifications 
  • DOE experience is preferred. 
  • Design Authority experience preferred. 
  • Field Engineering experience preferred. 

LOCATION
Savannah River Mission Complete - Aiken, SC. Positions will be on-site.

Work Hours:
A 40-hour work week is scheduled consisting of a 4/10 schedule.
