Longenecker & Associates (L&A) is seeking an Environmental Management System/Sustainability Lead. This position will lead the Environmental Management System and Sustainability programs for UCOR in Oak Ridge, TN.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the EMS program for UCOR.
  • Lead and develop the EMS team to maximize productivity of the organization.
  • Partner with the project teams to identify, track and report on objectives and targets for the EMS annual report. This would include successfully integrating with projects to incorporate EMS as part of the working culture.
  • Support the projects in tracking progress to ensure objectives and targets are achieved.
  • Communicate with UCOR Senior Management regarding EMS.
  • Communicate with UCOR staff to educate the workforce on the purpose of EMS and how to increase our environmental achievements.
  • Partner and coordinate with our federal DOE client on EMS progress and DOE’s goals related to this area.
  • Ensure regulatory and contract-required deliverables are accurate and completed on time.
  • Implement new federal requirements, such as ISO 14001: 2015 and any others as directed by our contract.
  • Provide subject matter expertise.
Sustainability
  • Collaborate and integrate with UCOR projects, such as D&D and waste management, to identify current and future sustainable projects and look for opportunities to “tell our story.”
  • Work strategically to help integrate sustainable practices throughout UCOR.
  • Increase understanding within the workforce, across organizations and to our federal client, regarding sustainability at UCOR.
  • Effectively grow the culture of UCOR with regards to sustainability by educating, rewarding, and motivating sustainable practices within our work processes.
  • Develop written materials and presentations that are effective at explaining real examples of sustainability projects being effectively implemented, especially describing the benefits of doing so.
  • Develop new partnerships at local and regional levels to establish UCOR and OREM as leaders in the industry.
  • Work with procurement and projects to implement a sustainable supply chain and achieve sustainability goals.
  • Attend conferences and present information, as required.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of 15 years of related experience required.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and/or managing sustainability-based initiatives, processes, or programs is required.
  • Experience working with sustainability or environmental programs in a government facility is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • 4-year degree
