The Computing Systems Tec 1 will operate under the direction of the AskIT Service Desk at LANL. The main duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing day-to-day technical support services, locally or remotely, to employees for network infrastructure and internal desktop systems software and hardware
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop, or mobile systems, workstations, and network issues in a heterogeneous environment
  • Test and evaluate commercial and Laboratory developed software for quality control and proper operation,
  • Maintain passwords, data integrity and file system security for the desktop environment,
  • Communicate highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel,
  • Recommend hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.

  • Position typically requires a high school diploma and a minimum of one year of related experience,
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience using a call tracking system including using it to resolve user issues,
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with customers and peers in a professional and responsive manner,
  • Experience writing documentation such as step-by-step technical information for customers or technical staff,
  • Ability to follow instructions such as performing work listed on a checklist,
  • Proven ability to keep appointments and project timelines,
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes drug screening, and inclusion in random drug testing program.
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

  • Previous experience on DOE sites and programs,
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.

Los Alamos, NM
This will mainly be a telework position but will be required to go onsite as needed.
