Longenecker & Associates (L&A), a woman owned small business, has provided technical and management support to the Nuclear Energy Industry for over 30+ years. We have the immediate need for a Occupational Medical Case Manager 1 to contribute to the mission of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). LANL is a multidisciplinary research institution dedicated to enhancing national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.

The Occupational Medical Case Manager 1 is responsible for providing case management services for the LANL Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The EAP provides a variety of services aimed at increasing employee wellbeing, including group and individual behavioral health services, management consults, and Lab wide education on various behavioral health topics. Because of the confidential and sensitive nature of our work, candidates for this position must have the ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism. Successful candidates will also feel comfortable speaking with individuals, both over the phone and in person, who may be experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The EAP case manager must work cooperatively with all staff, students, affiliates, visitors and guests and demonstrate the ability to adhere to timeliness, flexibility, and adaptability, as well as maintain a professional atmosphere under pressure.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to)

  • The Occupational Med Case Manager 1’s responsibilities may include, but are not necessarily limited to:
  • Scheduling and calendar management for a team of clinical providers.
  • Assisting providers with follow up referrals and correspondence
  • Basic triage of clients calling in for behavioral health services.
  • Maintenance of electronic records.
  • Assisting providers with oral presentations on behavioral health topics and representation of EAP at LANL health fairs.
  • Collaborating with both onsite medical and psychological providers, and community providers
  • Fostering a mutually respectful work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.
  • Developing basic concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories.
  • Working on routine and moderately significant, unique or complex issues.
  • Providing solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
  • Creating formal networks involving coordination among groups, and other key decision makers.
  • Regularly contacts with other resources internal and external to the organization.
  • Working under established direction toward predetermined long-range targets. Assignments are often self-initiated.
  • Using established best practices for determining course of action to accomplish objectives. Using established best practice methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Verbal and written communication skills, multi-tasking, customer service skills and interpersonal skills (Required)
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time(Required)
  • Ability to keep information organized and confidential(Required)
  • Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate case management principles and intervention.
  • Basic knowledge of behavioral health principles, and a strong willingness to build on this knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be local
  • Confidentiality experience with sensitive information
  • Comfortable with behavioral crisis calls
  • Demonstrated experience with essential duties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Q-level DOE security clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen.
 

Education and Experience Required

  • High School Diploma + 2 years of case management experience OR Bachelor’s degree in case management related field.
  • Experience working on a DOE site is preferred but not required
