Longenecker & Associates (L&A), a woman owned small business, has provided technical and management support to the Nuclear Energy Industry for over 30+ years. We have the immediate need for experienced Software Developers to contribute to the mission of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). LANL is a multidisciplinary research institution dedicated to enhancing national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to)
As a Longenecker Software Developer you will be expected, but not limited to, support software applications and systems by investigating, designing, documenting and implementing new hardware and software. Work with customers and end users to understand requirements, coordinate resources, monitor timeline, and plan, track, and execute project plan. Analyze user requirements and evaluate work processes. Prepare concepts for information system solutions and evaluate the cost-effectiveness of these concepts.
We have multiple positions available at varying levels, with years of experience ranging from 5 years to 12 years. We are also looking to fill a Senior Oracle position, which would require at least 12 years of experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with software configuration management and software quality assurance methodologies and practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of secure coding practices.
  • Experience analyzing and defining business requirements and preparing technical designs.
  • Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Frequently contributes to the development and/or implementation of new technical standards and methods.
  • Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Work is accomplished without considerable direction and/or coordinates activities of other personnel.
  • Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment, and determines the methods and procedures needed for new assignments.
  • Interact effectively with all levels of internal personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Ability to analyze data, and understand organizational disparities, as well as implementing solutions to address such areas.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • One position requires Oracle experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with essential duties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact constructively with all levels of management, subject matter experts and external agencies.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Q-level DOE security clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Education and Experience Required

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in Computer Science (or relevant degree in IT)
    • And a minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for Software Developer II.
    • And a minimum twelve years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for Software Developer IV.
  • Experience working on a DOE site is preferred but not required.
