Longenecker & Associates (L&A), a woman owned small business, has provided technical and management support to the Nuclear Energy Industry for over 30+ years. We have the immediate need for Construction Managers to contribute to the mission of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). LANL is a multidisciplinary research institution dedicated to enhancing national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to)

  • Thorough knowledge of all phases of construction operations, construction quality, subcontract management, construction technologies, and project management.
  • Apply your understanding of environmental laws and requirements.
  • Apply your understanding of government compliance standards.
  • Oversee construction schedule, managing Requests for Information (RFIs) and Change Orders with emphasis on on-time delivery.
  • Conduct construction meetings as needed.
  • Work closely with the project team, prepare reports as required.
  • Forecast project budgets and expenditures throughout the entire project life cycle.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record of successful management of construction projects or functions.
  • Demonstrated awareness of zero accident safety initiatives.
  • Demonstrated awareness of project planning tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated record of effective management in the following areas: financial management, personnel management, safety, security, and quality management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and grow both internal and external organizational relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective decision-making, creative problem solving, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers.

Desired Skills

  • Experience as a contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE).
  • Successful experience managing construction projects or functional portfolios of greater than >$500M.
  • Experience working under nuclear quality standards (e.g., NQA-1).
  • Current or previous certification in Earned Value Management systems.
  • Current or previous experience developing proposals in response to client requests.
  • Current or previous experience managing functional programs (subcontracts management, quality, engineering, etc.).
  • Current or previous experience managing construction in the TA-55 area at LANL is desirable.

 

Education Required

  • Position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
